History

Dollars and Sense was birthed from a dinner conversation that Curtis had with two of his peers one evening.   At the dinner, Curtis was set back in amazement at their stories of wealth building, entrepreneurship and strategies for leaving a financial legacy to the next generation. For Curtis, this was an out of body experience because the topics that were being discussed were foreign to him. “Although my family was both loving and supportive, we never talked about financial responsibility, investments or generational wealth at the dinner table” said Curtis.  Dollars and Sense® was created to give the community, specifically African Americans, a platform where we can start having the “conversation”. Curtis chose Chicago’s “Talk of Chicago”

WVON 1690 AM is his outlet for the conversation, where he can be heard every Saturday from 8:00am to 9:30am.  Dollars and Sense is produced by Mr. Michael Peery.
 

Objective

The message of Dollars and Sense® is to learn the importance of exercising personal and professional responsibility. Curtis R. Monday believes that the social injustice of classissm is rooted in financial or economic inequality, and he has created an effective outlet for these issues to be addressed.  Dollars and Sense® strives to provide a platform where we can openly discuss and share strategies of entrepreneurship, real estate, financial responsibility and gain a better understanding of the political process.  The show is a combination of weekly segments and guests who embody the spirit and focus of the program.
 

Weekly Segments

Dollars and Sense® Hall of Fame – The Hall of Fame is a hypothetical case study.  All individuals referenced are fictitious and are by no means actual individuals. The Hall of Fame is presented to provide an understanding of the significance of attaining an insurance and financial reassessment.

Ask A Friend –  Q & A session answering the listener’s questions about insurance, entrepreneurship and real estate.

Economist View – Macro analysis of the current state of both the domestic and international economy provided by Professor Rashid Carter of Olive Harvey Community College.

Real Estate Forecast - Overview of the local Chicago  and national real estate environment provided by national real estate expert Lynn Richardson.
